No Corporate Propaganda Here… Scout’s Honor

May 5, 2005

Hong Kong Boy Scouts to earn merit badge for protecting intellectual property rights. A spokeperson for the Boy Scouts of America has characterized the award as “a little unusual” since “merit badges typically relate either to career skills or lifelong interests”.

As the Register bitingly notes: “This program will surely lead to the protection of thousands of copies of Shrek III and establish a true disdain for copyright infringing porn.”

It’s ‘Point and Click’, Not ‘Point and Open-Fire’

I don’t even know how to categorize this. California has just decided to ban internet hunting. As in, people sitting at computers to kill live game elsewhere with the click of a mouse. A practice which started in… yes, that’s right. Texas.

Supporters have suggested the remote hunting could be beneficial for hunters with disabilities.

Um, right.

“That Meow, Meow, Meow Ironic Detachment”

Vital Public Service Announcement: Apparently the Daily Show is about to spawn a spin-off: The Colbert Report.

Quoth Mr. Colbert: “I don’t know why someone hasn’t copied ‘The Daily Show.’ I, personally, was eager to rip us off.”

“We’re going to deal with truth on my program… We’re going to catch the world in the headlights of my justice.”

Well okay, Stephen. That’s great… just so long as you keep making Daily Show appearances too!
